My Impending Birthday

As I approach my 27th birthday, I have begun to think what I have done with my life.

Apart from my recent marriage to my adorable husband, I find that the last 27 years of life have been very mundane and I feel as though I haven't achieved much. There is nothing measurable in my life that tells me that I have been a success. I know that, like beauty, success is in the eye of the beholder. I also don't give a dam who thinks I'm successful or who doesn't. I just feel that compared to where I thought I would be when I was 27, I haven't achieved much.

The only thing that I have really done that is measurable is pay off my car. I dropped out of University after 2 years and since then (7 years) I have only managed to complete a Certificate IV in Disability Work.

[In Australia when you end High School you can go on to TAFE or Uni. At TAFE you can study at Certificate II, III, IV and Diploma level (max 2 years). At Uni you can study for 4 years and get a degree and then return and do a post-graduate course]

I don't know, I just feel as though I have not met my own expectations of myself. But saying that, I don't think that I will ever be where I thought I would be cos my goals have changed since the wedding. Now all I'm focusing on is preparing for a family and I suppose raising one that is happy and healthy is an achievement in its self....
